Honda Fit Recall Expanded by 48,138 Units

Honda is expanding a recall relating to the stability control system in its Fit sub-compacts.

The company announced its recall late Thursday that will update software in another 57,000 vehicles ranging from the 2012 to 2013 model year. Cars affected by the flaw can skid farther than federal regulations allow before the system takes hold.

Initially, the recall affected almost 46,000 of the cars and was announced last April. Honda said its campaign for the newly-added Fits will begin on August 2 and the automaker will carry out the ECU update free of charge. The recall affects owners in both the U.S. and Canada. Honda will have called back a total of 91,920 vehicles over the course of the recall collectively.
